The "Sudarshan-Chakra" or beautiful discus spins around the index finger of the Goddess and signifies the submission of entire world to the will of Durga and to her command. This constant weapon destroys evil and encourages the growth of virtue.
The sword that Durga holds in one of her hands represents knowledge that is as sharp, quick and free from all doubts as the sword itself.
Durga's trident or "trishul" symbolizes the removal of all the three types of miseries, be it physical, mental or spiritual.
