The colorful festival of Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which comes in February end or early March. Holi festival signifies the triumph of good over bad. On this day, people hug and wish each other 'Happy Holi'. Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve. Holi also gives a wonderful chance to send blessings and love to dear ones wrapped in a special Holi gift.
Holi, as called the Festival of Colours, is a popular Hindu spring festival observed in whole India and other countries also. On the first day, burning of the demoness Holika, Hiranyakashipu's sister, in huge bonfires at night.
On the second day, known as Dhulheti, people spend the day throwing coloured powder and water at each other. A special drink called thandai is prepared, sometimes containing bhang (an herbal concoction).
Holi takes place over two days in the later part of February or March. As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the Phalgun Purnima (Full Moon).
