Theft at kite shop ahead of Makar Sankranti
VARANASI: Five days before the festival of Makar Sankranti, which is marked by extensive kite-flying in the city, a band of thieves struck at a kite wholesaler's shop in Baulia Lehartara area under Manduadih police station on Tuesday night and fled with kites and strings worth over Rs 21,000.

According to reports, Deepak Kumar alias Pradeep runs his wholesale shop of kites and related accessories in Baulia area. In view of the forthcoming festival of Makarsankranti, he had stocked up a huge quantity of kites and strings.

After midnight, a band of thieves broke into his shop and fled with kites and strings. It is believed that the thieves would have come with a trolley as carrying the entire stock in hands was impossible. Police are so far clueless about the thieves.
